Leadership at St Martin's is not simply about wearing a badge or having a title. It is about serving others, being a positive role model, listening to others and helping to make our school the very best it can be.

Throughout school, children have opportunities to take on a variety of leadership roles.

Chaplaincy Team

Our Chaplaincy Team plays a special role in supporting the Catholic life and mission of our school.

Pupils have opportunities to contribute to prayer and liturgy, help us celebrate important occasions in the Church's year and encourage others to put our Gospel values of Love, Peace, Justice, Honesty and Forgiveness into action.

Through their leadership, our chaplains help to ensure that faith remains at the heart of school life.

Digital Leaders

Our Digital Leaders have a particular interest in technology and help promote the positive and responsible use of digital technology across school.

The role gives pupils an opportunity to develop their own confidence with technology while using their knowledge and enthusiasm to support others.

House Captains

Our House Captains are positive role models who help build a sense of belonging, teamwork and community across the school.

They encourage pupils to participate fully in school life, celebrate the achievements of others and represent the values and expectations of St Martin de Porres.

Being a House Captain gives pupils the opportunity to develop important skills in leadership, communication, organisation and teamwork.

School Council

Our School Council gives children a voice in the life and development of our school.

School councillors represent the views and ideas of their fellow pupils and provide an important link between children and staff.

Through the School Council, pupils learn that their opinions matter and that they can contribute positively to their community. It also helps children develop an understanding of responsibility, representation, listening to others and working together to bring about positive change.

Librarians

Our Pupil Librarians help us promote a love of books and reading throughout St Martin's.

Taking responsibility within our school library gives children an opportunity to share their enthusiasm for reading, support other pupils and help ensure that our library remains a welcoming and valued part of school life.

Developing Leaders for the Future

Through pupil leadership, we want children to understand that good leadership begins with service.

Our pupil leaders are encouraged to listen, show kindness, take responsibility, work collaboratively and lead by example. These experiences help children develop confidence and independence while recognising the contribution they can make to other people's lives.

Most importantly, pupil leadership provides another opportunity for our children to live out our mission and Gospel values each day.
